Tips for a Smooth Check-In at Your First Visit

Bring your pet’s records. Are you and your pet transferring over from a different vet? You can either print out and bring your pet’s records from that vet to your first appointment with us, or you can have your old vet email over the records directly to our team.

Make sure your pet is properly restrained. If you’re bringing your feline family member to us, make sure they are resting comfortably in a sturdy pet carrier or on a harness. Dogs (depending on size) should also be brought in an appropriate carrier or on a sturdy leash.

Let us know if you have an anxious, fearful pet. Our team will help you prepare for your pet’s visit. We know that going to the vet can be difficult for some of our patients. This is why Somerset Veterinary Hospital is a Fear Free Certified Practice. Our veterinarians and staff utilize Fear Free handling techniques, calming pheromones, treat distractions, and more to make your pet’s visit as low-stress as possible.

Payment

All fees are due at the time services are rendered. Somerset Veterinary Hospital accepts cash and all major credit cards as payment. We do not accept personal checks.

Cancellation and No-Show Policy

At Somerset Veterinary Hospital, we are dedicated to seeing all our patients and clients on time so they can get the care they need. We understand that occasional circumstances may prevent you from keeping a scheduled appointment but ask that you please call to cancel your appointment or surgery for your pet as early in advance as possible.

Established clients are given one warning following a missed appointment. Established clients who do not notify the clinic in advance to cancel their appointments and do not show up at their scheduled appointment a second time will then be asked to prepay their exam fee cost prior to scheduling their next visit. If this client schedules and shows up for their next three appointments, this restriction will be removed.

An appointment is considered missed after 15 minutes past the scheduled appointment time. Any client who no-shows a surgery will be asked to place a deposit of 50% of the high end of the estimated surgical cost prior to rescheduling their surgery. Any new clients who no-show their first exam will be required to prepay their exam fee prior to rescheduling their appointment.
